President's Message

“We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give” – Winston Churchill

As a proud parent at Adobe Bluffs, I feel that our greatest resource in supporting our children is our sense of community that we build between home and school.  It becomes more apparent to me that the efforts of our CHARACTER COUNTS! program have resulted in a common understanding and respectful behavior among all in the Adobe Bluffs family.  This understanding was overwhelmingly demonstrated last week by the caring and generous donations we received during our Spring Food Drive.  Seeing the parents and kids carrying to school over 500 packages of food items inspired a sense of pride for me in our community – not only because of the donations themselves, but also because I know there are families that took the opportunity to make this a teaching moment about the spirit of giving.  And although some of the kids may not fully grasp the good that they participated in, the parents modeled a very positive behavior for them that will only serve to continue to reinforce good character.

Thanks to everyone for all you do for and with our kids!  The donations received from our Spring Food Drive will go a long way to help many kids eat right during Spring Break and on into the summer months.  I hope everyone has a happy, safe, and healthy rest of March!

GO AZTECS!

PUSD Integrated Preschool Opportunity

Poway Unified School District is pleased to offer for the 2010-2011 school year, Integrated Preschool Programs at Pomerado Elementary and Deer Canyon Elementary schools.  They will serve 3 to 5 year old children with and without special needs. A general education developmental curriculum will include both large and small group circle time, play, and language activities.    Other skills and activities that are introduced are music and rhythm, self help skills, thinking skills, language arts, social skills, number concepts, gross and fine motor skills.  The children who have special needs may experience difficulty in one or more of the following areas:  speech and language, play skills, and social skills.  The success of the integrated program greatly depends on the inclusion of children without special needs who act as models as all children learn together.

All children in the preschool programs will work as an integrated group.  They will have opportunities to work and play together in an atmosphere of acceptance and understanding.  The curriculum is play-based, which means that children are encouraged to play together in a way that leads to growth and development.

Our preschool staff will meet with you and arrange a class visitation and provide information about enrollment.

  • Class Time:  M-F, 5 hours per day  (Alternate times will be considered)
  • Options: 3 and 5 day options available
  • Cost:  Five day program is $310 a month.  Prorated rates are available for other options.  There is also a one time, non-refundable $50 registration fee.

Currently, there are openings available and registration will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.  If interested, please contact Barbie Shrier at 858-668-2746.
