Principal's Message
As the 2010-11 school year winds down, I want to take a moment to thank all of the wonderful volunteers who have dedicated countless hours to help our faculty and students. Adobe Bluffs is very fortunate to have many caring community members, parents and friends who share their time and expertise with our students. From Morning Readers, to evening events, and many activities in between, volunteers help to make special events happen.
Last week we held our Volunteer Tea to show our gratitude. The event was well attended and our teachers showed their appreciation by preparing food, and students provided some entertainment for everyone to enjoy. Adobe Bluffs recognized Patty Carleton as our Volunteer of the Year. Patty has been volunteering weekly at ABES for over 5 years. She has spent countless hours assisting in the library, volunteering in classrooms and assisting in room J as well as many other areas. She has continued to volunteer even after her grandchildren moved on to middle school.
We also recognized other “super heroes” who help our students have super experiences. Corrinne Cousar, KC Hellenkamp, Jennifer Wright, Jim McLaughlin and Krissa Jensen were recognized as Adobe Bluffs Super Heroes. I also want to extend a special thanks to anyone who has volunteered but was unable to attend the Tea. You are an important part of what makes Adobe Bluffs a special school.
With Aztec Pride,
Mark Atkins

Got Leadership? Adobe Bluffs Students need you!
Although we still have a month of school left this year, your PTA is already hard at work planning for the 2011-2012 school year and we need your help. Several leadership opportunities exist in some very beneficial PTA programs that will need to be filled. If you are already volunteering some time for any PTA program (or any time at all in any capacity for our school), THANK YOU! If you have ever thought of possibly taking on a Chairperson position, now is a great time. Here are just a few of the opportunities that will be available:
AB College Games Chair Art Show Chair Author’s Faire Chair Back to School Breakfast for Teachers Celebrate Diversity Night Character Counts Chair Dad’s Breakfast Chair Room L Science Supplies Co-Chair Science Day Co-Chair | Website Co-Chair (webmaster) Arts Attack Co-Chairs Red Ribbon Week Reflections Co-Chair Parent Education Chair Summer Book Club Variety Show Co-Chairs Welcome Back Picnic |
I know taking on a leadership role in any form can be a little intimidating (it certainly was for me). However, there are a lot of friendly, knowledgeable people who are ready to welcome you and help you succeed. Adobe Bluffs Elementary PTA has a long and proud tradition of developing strong leaders and for that to continue, we need you. If you are interested in exploring any of these opportunities please feel free to contact me, Krissa Jensen, or Cari Piglowski, VP Programs.
Thanks for everything you do for our kids!
Krissa Jensen, PTA President 2010-2011

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!
The PTA sponsored Spring Book Fair was a huge success! I want to personally thank all of our families and staff for coming out all week to buy books and support this worthy cause. In addition, this couldn’t have happened without the support of so many volunteer parents and staff…you know who you are!
We were so excited to offer our BOGO (Buy One Get One) book fair this spring. It allowed the children to get so many more books for summer reading at a great price! We were happy to see that many of you were able to come out and take advantage of this great opportunity. It is a wonderful way to support literacy and our children.
Have a great summer and enjoy reading! The Fall book fair will be just around the corner in November!!
