The AB Giving Tree - Caring for the Community

Thank you, AB families for all the generous gifts and gift card donations that you gave over the past few weeks.

As a result AB was able to adopt 5 families within the PUSD district.  Your generosity provided for 30 individuals and granted many items from their wish lists.  Your giving hearts have ensured that these families have been taken care of for the holidays and shows AB’s true community spirit and character trait of caring.

Scholastic Book Fair - THANK YOU   THANK YOU   THANK YOU!!!!!

The PTA sponsored Fall Book Fair was a huge success!  We raised over $3,500 for new books for our library.  I want to personally thank all of our families and staff for coming out all week to buy books and support this worthy cause. In addition, this couldn’t have happened without the support of so many volunteer parents and staff…you know who you are!  Volunteers helped run the actual book fair, sold goodies on Thursday night, helped with photos of Clifford, helped set up and clean up… you name it there were volunteers ready and willing to help. Many of you volunteered above and beyond, so thank you!

We are excited to announce that there will be another great book fair coming to our school in the spring!  Watch the newsletter for specific dates.

Sun Safety

The Adobe Bluffs Foundation is coming closer to solving some of the problems regarding sun exposure during recess.  We are working toward the planting of mulberry trees as an environmentally friendly means of creating shade for our children.

This is the third of our series of tips outlined by the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), to protect against the potentially damaging effects of the sun.

Tip #3:  WEAR PROTECTIVE CLOTHING

Wear protective clothing, such as a long-sleeved shirt, pants, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses, where possible.

* Advising students to wear hats at recess is always advisable.  Be sure to write your child’s name inside the hat.

This tip and others are located at the AAD’s website.
