President's Message

 

With the month of December upon us, it seems like the school year is flying by.  I am so amazed by the spirit of our Adobe Bluffs Community.  Students, teachers, staff and so many parents who go above and beyond to make the school the best it can be.  With the holiday season upon us, I want to take this opportunity to tell you how thankful I am for all who have contributed to enhancing and enriching our students’ school experience.  A huge and heartfelt thank you to:

Health Corner - 1st Grade Physicals Due on Friday, December 13, 2010

 

All 1st grade physicals must be in the  health office by december 13th.

This is mandatory in order to be in compliance with the school entry requirement.

Student Council 

Wednesday, January 5 we will have our first day of the student store!  Our store has some pretty cool school supplies. It will be held at recess near the lunch tables every Wednesday.  Most items cost $1.  Please come by and support our student council.  GO AZTECS!!!

Once added to Internet Explorer or Firefox, each time you shop at more than 1,300 stores (from Amazon to Zazzle!) a percentage of your purchase will automatically be donated to Adobe Bluffs Elementary School - at no cost to you.  You may even save money as the toolbar provides coupons and deals as well!  The toolbar also has a search box and each time you search the Internet, about a penny is donated to Adobe Bluffs Elementary School.

2010-2011 Yearbook Orders

 

Don'tforget to order your yearbook before the Winter Break to get the discounted price of $20 (price is $25 in January). Thanks to outstanding sponsorship orders and volunteer support last year, we were actually able to lower the price of the book instead of raise it this year! The AB yearbook is a very popular item, so don't let your child miss out! Links to Book and Sponsor (Love Lines, etc.) order forms can be found on the Adobe Bluffs website, and extra forms may also be in the office.  

 

Please don't hesitate to check with us if you're not sure if you've ordered, if you didn't receive a receipt, or if you have any other questions. All orders should receive an e-receipt from abbychar@gmail.com or a paper receipt.

 

Special Note for 5th Grade Families: Soon after the break we will be asking for baby pictures of 5th graders, so you might want to start looking for your choice now or over the break. Also, don't forget to order a book for your student! Last year every 5th grader got a book!

Poway Unified School District Musical

- 7pm, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, January 7 and 8, 2011

- 2pm, Saturday and Sunday, January 8 and 9, 2011

- Poway Center for the Performing Arts on Espola Rd

 

Ring in 2011 by joining the fun and seeing friends from across the district perform in “Seussical, the Musical.” Students from all over the district auditioned in early September and have been rehearsing at Black Mountain Middle School several times a week.

 

Performance Dates: January 7, 8 and 9. Times are 7pm on Friday and Saturday with matinee performances at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday. Ticket prices are: $12 for all seats and are available from cast members, at the box office or on the center's website: (a convenience fee will be charged for online purchases).

If you missed out on ordering the new 2010-2011 Adobe Bluffs Spirit Wear tees and sweatshirts, you now have another opportunity!  We’ll be taking additional orders through January 14th.  Download an order form or pick one up in the front office.

Winter Jamboree – Saturday, January 22, 2011

 

Polar Bears, Penguins, Snowmen and More!!!  Be sure to put the Winter Jamboree on your calendars for Saturday, January 22th!  (Rain date February 5th)  Look for Pre-sales flyers in your red folders before winter break.  Currently, we are looking for additional volunteers.  Please contact Bill Forster or K.C. Hellenkamp if you are interested in helping at this fun family event!

AB Mileage Club

 

Our kids have had a great time (when the weather has allowed) so far this year earning their chain and tokens and other prizes for the laps run during Mileage Club at lunch recess.  We also organized the First AB Turkey Trot where they ran a course and earned a Turkey Token for completing the run.  These kids love to run and its fun to see them enjoying exercise with their friends!  

 

Here are the students who have run an amazing 25 miles (or more) so far this year: 

Blake S., Luke F., Reid N., Adam T., Edward L., Duncan G., Trevor G., Trevor J., and Zachary R. 

 

Unfortunately, this great opportunity for them to enjoy exercise and be rewarded for it is in jeopardy.  We are in need of more volunteers to help keep this program going.  Mileage Club has been a fun and rewarding part of recess on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for many years and the kids truly enjoy it.  It is also a quick and fun way for YOU to see your kids in action during recess (K-3 is 11:30 to 11:55 and 4-5 is 11:55 to 12:15).  You don't have to come everyday, or even every week.  If you have some availability in your schedule and would like to help keep this program in action, please email Kristine Brownlee.
