AB PTA and PUSD Volunteer Information
School Board Policy requires Poway Unified School District to conduct background clearances for all District volunteers. Parents with children in more than one school will only need to submit paperwork at one school site. Volunteers who are fingerprinted will only need to be fingerprinted once.
You are required by the PUSD to have the following items completed, processed and cleared before being allowed to work at the school. Click on the links below for the required forms. Forms are also available in the AB office.
1. Volunteer Application/Megan’s Law Background Clearance
2. Tuberculosis (TB) Test The TB Test is a two-step process and valid for 4 years. The district is currently providing free testing for your convenience. Click here for the district TB schedule. You must bring a “volunteer verification form” from the AB office to the clinic to prove your intention to volunteer. Other ways to obtain a TB test is through your own physician, the County Public Health Department or at the local CVS (on Twin Trails) through their Minute Clinic.
3. Volunteer Code of Conduct
4. PTA Membership - You are encouraged, but not required, to become a member of the PTA
A Volunteer Site Transfer Request is available for those individuals who have volunteered at another school within the district.
If you plan to drive on a field trip: You will need to fill out this form: Private Vehicle Transportation for Student's off-site Student Experience. (pdf file)
PLEASE NOTE: Individuals will not be allowed to volunteer until the office has received notice of the Megan's Law clearance and results of the TB test.
When You Come To Volunteer Please Sign In & Out: All volunteers at each of our school sites are required to sign in at the office and put on a nametag. You must do this each day you volunteer. This helps us identify people on our campus and helps keep our kids safe. Thank you for remembering to do this!
Please complete all documents listed above and return to the school office promptly to begin the verification process.
There are many activities planned for the upcoming year that benefit from parent volunteers and are rewarding for volunteers, staff, and students alike. Below is a brief list of programs, events, fundraising and supported services that PTA coordinates with a very brief glimpse of what they are about. For more information, check the programs page to see if there is currently a program chair and contact information or contact Michele Kelly, VP of Volunteers or Cari Piglowski, VP of Programs.
We thank you for your time and look forward to working with you.
